DEON - Oceans

18/2/2016

I've been very fortunate to be able to work with musician DEON on his past two albums. Both projects were helpful in forcing me to learn new techniques and make completed works, which, I can often try and avoid. I think my personal work has benefited immensely from this.

His most recent album, Oceans, was designed as a very short story book telling the story of a travelling, winged lion. I really enjoyed piecing all the images together and fitting everything with the tone of his music as well as lyrics.

Below are images of the cover illustration and some snippets of the album pages. Lyrics are by DEON.

TRUST YOUR GUT

17/5/2015

I collaborated with the talented, creative, and hardworking people at Raksasaprint recently.

My design TRUST YOUR GUT is available in their shop as t-shirt and tote bag.

They gave me free reign and I stuck to what I do best: wolves and disembodiment (of sorts).

Two Dogs & A Cherry Tree

24/2/2015

A recently completed commission of two beautiful dogs. I was provided reference images of said dogs and asked to add a cherry blossom tree in the image, with both dogs interacting somehow.

The initial image was drawn traditionally, then later scanned, refined, and colored digitally.

Fun little slides of the general process, as I always find it interesting to see how illustrations progress from the initial sketch to the final.

Light, Ink, Death - Exhibition

26/7/2014

I was invited to exhibit some work for a show in San Francisco: Light, Ink, Death, which took place at the lovely ATAK Gallery in the Tenderloin District.

Myself and three other illustrators and artists (Mr. Beaudry, Paul Jackson, and Tltv) where asked to provide illustrations revolving around the idea of light and death.

    "
In this exhibition we specifically wanted to showcase the diverse and detailed nature of black ink use in creating      imagery representing the light & death of the world that influences each illustrator.  We asked each of the four artists to present their personal interpretation of the theme within their illustrations.  All of the works shown are produced by means of pen and ink utilizing stippling, cross hatching, etc." - ATAK Gallery
The exhibition runs from July 5th - August 1st 2014.

Upcoming Things

11/5/2014

It's a bit too early to go into detail, but I am working on a few pieces for an upcoming show in the US, which I am very excited about.

I have one piece just about done, here is an in-progress preview of it: ink on paper with gold details.

It's always exciting and nerve-wracking to work on things that are to be displayed, but the butterflies in my stomach seem to have inspired me (for now).
